Shinobu and Doma: Two Sides of the Same Coin
Despite hating each other deeply, there is a unique and symbolic connection between one of the most desensitized demons in the story Doma and the Insect Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinobu Kocho. I hope you enjoy this short blurb about these two characters so without further ado let’s get into it!
They both view their life in the same exact light… with just a slight difference!
The way that Doma treats humans is exactly the same as how Shinobu treats demons. Just as how the humans in Doma’s cult lied and misled him, the demons Shinobu has encountered have done the exact same to her. The two parallel in that they are both fundamentally unable to see humans and demons respectively for what they are - which is having no value. Doma preaches and believes in death as a salvation because in his eyes there is nothing in this world that is worth living for. For Shinobu, her goal in life is not to settle down, be happy, and live a prosperous life. All meaning in life ended for her the minute her sister was taken from her. Through Doma’s ignorance and Shinobu’s emptiness, both feel completely devoid of feeling for life and believe that they are completely expendable as a result.
